Debbie Towson
Park Avenue Church
What are your experiences and areas of service that you believe will be valuable in your role as a General Conference delegate?
"My name is Debbie and I am married to Jimmy Towson, senior pastor of Park Avenue Church in Valdosta. I have served with Jimmy as an active lay person over the past 46+ years in South Georgia, areas including missions, women's ministry, outreach, kids, youth & adult ministries.
I was deeply honored and humbled to be elected as a lay delegate to the 1st General Conference of the GMC in Costa Rica, where I served on the Episcopacy Legislative Committee. That experience was truly amazing as we watched the Holy Spirit move in so many ways. I had much to learn, but believe that God was equipping me to serve in whatever capacity He sees fit in the future."
Describe why you believe that God has potentially called you to serve as a General Conference delegate.
"Jimmy and I have traveled across the South Georgia for several years now, speaking to many churches and groups about the Global Methodist Church. We have met many new friends in our conference and in the GMC globally. We have listened to the needs of our local churches and the hearts of the incredible people of our South Georgia.
If elected, I promise to use whatever skills and gifts God has given me to represent our conference to the best of my ability, to uphold and enhance our Wesleyan Biblical tradition and to be a voice for the laity of our incredible annual conference."
