CONFIRMATION RETREAT 2025

February 21-23, 2025

Epworth by the Sea
St. Simons Island, GA

The South Georgia GMC is excited to announce the 2nd annual Confirmation Retreat. All SGAGMC churches are invited to participate in what is to be a wonderful time of fellowship, learning and discipleship.

REGISTRATION

Confirmation Retreat is not a replacement for confirmation classes, but a weekend complimenting everything you’re doing in your local church! Youth that attend are primarily in 6th grade; however, the event is open to 6th-12th grade!

ACCOMODATIONS

Each church must reserve and pay for their own accommodations at Epworth by the Sea.  Cabins at Epworth are on a first come, first serve and will fill rapidly. Each individual church is responsible for their own Cabin Reservations for the weekend. Check with Tiffany about items to bring for the cabin.

QUESTIONS

Confirmation Retreat Coordinators, Wesley Marshall and Heather Croft from Park Avenue Church in Valdosta, are happy to answer any questions you may have!

THE MEANING OF CONFIRMATION

Through the rite of confirmation, we personally renew the covenant declared at our baptism, witness to God’s work in our lives, affirm our commitment to Christ and his holy Church, and receive the outpouring of the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands enabling our lifelong journey toward holiness. The apostles prayed for and laid hands on those who had been baptized. It is the duty of pastors to prepare confirmands, teaching them the basic tenets of the historic Christian faith, the history and theology of the Wesleyan revival movement, and the practical meaning of church membership in agreement with the Book of Doctrines & Discipline and approved catechism.
