Rev. Jimmy Towson
Park Avenue Church
What are your experiences and areas of service that you believe will be valuable in your role as a General Conference delegate?
I was deeply honored to serve as a delegate to GC24, and as chair of the Judicial Administration Legislative Committee at GC24. My role as an Area Presiding Elder and member of the SGA GMC Executive Team has given me valuable insight into the needs of our annual conference and local churches, as well as the importance of continuing to establish a solid foundation for our new denomination, which in many ways is still in its infancy.
While I was surprised to be elected as a member of the GMC Council of Appeals (similar to the Judicial Council of our former denomination), I decided to withdraw from the COA so that I could concentrate more on helping to build our annual conference and local churches, including Park Avenue Church. Should you choose to elect me, I believe my experience in our conference and in our former denomination has prepared me for this role as a delegate.
Describe why you believe that God has potentially called you to serve as a General Conference delegate.
During my time on the Council on Appeals of the GMC, I have wrestled with where God wanted me to spend the time He has given me. After much prayer and deliberation, I am confident that God wants me to focus my energy on helping build our conference, local churches and the GMC. While at the GC in Costa Rica, God placed me in the company of so many amazing people from all around the globe. I sense that God wants to use those relationships to continue the work we started in 2024.
