Rev. Dr. David Wesley Donnan

Glennville Methodist Church

What are your experiences and areas of service that you believe will be valuable in your role as a General Conference delegate?

I have served in pastoral ministry since 2006 in a variety of contexts—rural, suburban, small membership, and large congregations. I’ve also served in campus ministry through the Wesley Foundation, where I developed a deep passion for discipleship and spiritual formation among young adults. My leadership roles within the South Georgia Conference include being part of the founding leadership team at the launch of the Global Methodist Church, serving on the Conference Finance Team, and directing conference communications.

As the South Georgia Conference Director of Communications, I have a strong desire to help tell our story well. This role gives me a deep appreciation for how important clarity, transparency, and connection are across our churches and with our global partners. I believe good communication is a ministry in itself—helping people feel informed, equipped, and part of something bigger than themselves.

I hold both an M.Div. and D.Min. from Asbury Theological Seminary, with doctoral work focused specifically on discipleship. My heart is to see people come to saving faith in Jesus and live in the fullness of God’s grace. I hope to bring my experience, theological grounding, and communication gifts to serve our denomination faithfully as a General Conference delegate.

Describe why you believe that God has potentially called you to serve as a General Conference delegate.

I believe God may be calling me to serve as a General Conference delegate because I carry a deep love for the church and a strong desire to help shape its future with faithfulness and hope. Over the years, through pastoral ministry, campus ministry, and denominational leadership, I have felt God’s consistent call to serve not just locally, but also connectionally.

In this season of building and establishing the Global Methodist Church, I sense a holy responsibility to represent our South Georgia churches with clarity, conviction, and humility. I have a heart for sound doctrine, Spirit-filled mission, and healthy discipleship—all of which are crucial as we make important decisions that will guide our movement for generations.

I also believe that my gifts in communication, discernment, and collaboration are not just vocational skills but callings that God may use in this role. If selected, I would approach this task with prayer, humility, and a commitment to listen well—to God, to others, and to the needs of the church.
