Rev. Dr. Jonathan Beckum
Montezuma Methodist Church
What are your experiences and areas of service that you believe will be valuable in your role as a General Conference delegate?
I have served as a Methodist pastor since 2015. I have been the pastor at Montezuma Methodist Church since October 2018. I obtained my Master of Divinity in 2018 and Doctor of Ministry degree in 2025 from Asbury Theological Seminary. I have a vested interest in the future of the Global Methodist Church. I have been a worship leader, worked numerous Chrysalis and Emmaus weekends, organized children's ministry programs, started a small group ministry, and served as a Law Enforcement Chaplain for 8 years. I am committed to serving the South Georgia Global Methodist Church conference, and pray regularly for the Holy Spirit's guidance moving forward.
Describe why you believe that God has potentially called you to serve as a General Conference delegate.
I believe that the Global Methodist Church is a Holy Spirit-inspired and driven movement. I also believe that the churches of the South Georgia Global Methodist Church have an opportunity to play a major role in the development of this new movement. God has continuously molded and shaped me to be a good husband, father, and pastor. I would be honored to be able to represent the South Georgia Global Methodist Church on the General Conference level. I have always been a Methodist, and I want to ensure that my family is raised in the rich Wesleyan tradition moving forward. The Lord called me to pastoral ministry, and has continuously blessed me throughout my journey. Regardless if I am chosen to be a delegate, I will continue to pray for our selected leaders as they meet for General Conference 2026. May the Holy Spirit continue to lead, guide, and direct our denomination and conference in the years to come.
